Have fun singing songs with your baby!

Toronto Baby and Toddler Activities in the Annex
After singing at a Rainbow Songs class at our Annex location (St Alban’s Boys & Girls Club), why not wander through the neighbourhood and enjoy all it has to offer young families? Toronto is an endless source of fun kid-friendly and mommy approved baby and toddler activities. The Annex neighbourhood, a West end gem, is no exception.

Play at Vermont Square Park. This is a great space for outdoor fun! The park has a playground, lots of space for running around, swings, and other climbing activities.

Take your child over to art supply store Midoco, a fabulous family-owned shop, and check out their well-stocked kids section for craft kits, drawing supplies and more. You and your toddler can use your creative flare to dream up all kinds of projects and activities for those days you need to stay indoors.

Want to pick up some fun snacks? The Bulk Barn at the corner of Bloor and Borden has bins of a million different things! (Bonus tip: sign up on their website for weekly coupons.)

There are lots of coffee shops & cafes to grab a quick bite, or stay for lunch. We love By The Way Cafe, and Future Bistro is a neighbourhood staple for reasonably priced meals (or slices of cake!) anytime of day.

Go to the library! There are two great Toronto Library branches in this neighbourhood: Palmerston and Bloor or Spadina and North of Bloor. Both locations have wonderful children’s books sections. One fun activity is to find children’s books that mirror some of the songs in our singing classes!

These are only a few of the fun Toronto activities for children and parents to do in the Annex! When you and your toddler or infant finish your next Annex Rainbow Songs class, try to discover a new activities and tell us about them!

Toronto Baby and Toddler Activities in High Park and Swansea

Live in High Park Village? Rainbow Songs has two locations where you can join our music programs for babies and toddlers – High Park (Humbercrest United Church near Baby Point & Jane) and Swansea (Swansea Town Hall, a fabulous community centre that includes a library).

We are very proud to hold Rainbow Songs classes in both these neighbourhoods, where we have been teaching since 2002. When you and your toddler or infant sing with Rainbow Songs, we encourage you to wander and enjoy.

The biggest attraction in these neighbourhoods is the iconic High Park, a 399 acre greenspace in the middle of the city. This is Toronto’s largest park and has been open to the public since 1876! You and your child could spend hours wandering this lush green space. The possibilities of outdoor fun are endless. Hit the awesome playground, or grab a drink at the Grenadier Cafe, a restaurant conveniently located inside the park. Have those songs about animals stuck in your head? You and your toddler can even sing the songs you learned in class to the animals in the High Park Zoo!

A little further west of High Park, in the Swansea neighbourhood is the legendary Cheese Boutique. After singing with Rainbow Songs, a visit to this neighbourhood shop promises an epic food adventure! You and your toddler or infant will marvel at all the many food wonders from the patisserie, to the shelves of chocolates, to the massive cheese counter.

Toronto Baby and Toddler Activities in Roncesvalles

Roncesvalles Village is a vibrant neighbourhood full of young families, which is why its home to our admin office and main teaching site! When you are finished singing with Rainbow Songs Roncesvalles (running out of Roncesvalles United Church), you and your infant or toddler have many options for fun nearby!

Roncesvalles Village is within walking distance from two lovely parks, High Park and Sorauren Park. High Park is Toronto’s largest and most famous park with more features than you can explore in one day. Sorauren Park is a smaller local favourite. It features tennis courts, a running and walking track, baseball diamond and small soccer field. It’s such a great place to get active!

Directly across Wabash Avenue from Sorauren Park is the Charles G. Williams playground. This playground has its own mini park featuring swings, sandbox a supervised wading pool and a basketball court. The Charles G. Williams playground is a favourite of local parents and toddlers!

Roncesvalles Avenue is lined with many enticing small businesses. If you and your toddler are in the mood to shop after your Rainbow Songs class, check out Scooter Girl Toys! This colourful shop has so many wonderful toys, gifts and books for kids of all ages.

There are also many cafes and bakeries where you and your little one can have a treat, like Hot Oven or Extra Butter Coffee Shop. We also love going for lunch at Aris Restaurant, a diner with all-day breakfast. If you stop in at Aris after Rainbow Songs, you may very likely see some of the RS team enjoying a meal there too! (We recommend the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the Gyros On A Pita, and the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich.)

During the warmer months, stopping for ice cream after Rainbow Songs is a delightful treat! Sunnyside Provisions is a very popular stop for soft serve, and Ed’s Real Scoop has a more extensive range of flavours (if your child is a burgeoning foodie!)

Another popular indoor activity for kids in Roncesvalles Village, is visiting the High Park Toronto Public Library branch, conveniently located right next to Roncesvalles United Church where our classes are held. This lovely old library branch is filled with books and kids activities for some “quiet time” with you infant or toddler.

(Side note – Rainbow Songs is grateful to the High Park Branch for offering us lawn space to run outdoor classes from 2020 to 2022. Thanks for helping us get through pandemic lockdowns!)

Another place to look through kids’ books is at Another Story Bookshop, who have extensive expertise in children’s literature and a wonderfully curated collection. Their picture book stock is spectacular!

Toronto Baby and Toddler Activities in Trinity Bellwoods

Rainbow Songs families in the Queen St. West region love to sing with us at our Trinity Bellwoods location! In this neighbourhood, we teach at St Matthias Church, located on a quiet side street one block east of the park.

Toddlers and parents or caregivers also have fun strolling this vibrant neighbourhood all year round. Trinity Bellwoods Park is a great stop any time of year for outdoor fun. You can also run and play in the multipurpose sports field, or skate in the winter! This park also features a playground and splash pad that are very popular with local toddlers and parents.

Is your infant or toddler a dog lover? There are plenty of cute and friendly four legged friends who also play in Trinity Bellwoods Park. It’s always fun watching all the different breeds of pooches play in the famous Trinity Bellwoods dog bowl. If you feel more like relaxing after your Rainbow Songs class, pack a blanket and picnic basket and snuggle up to your infant or toddler under one of the many beautiful trees. There are so many downtown and west end families who frequent this beloved green space.

This neighbourhood is also filled with unique shops and cafes. Check out the White Squirrel Coffee shop, right across from the park. You can get a delicious artisan coffee and your tot can get a sweet treat like a pastry or ice cream!

Your toddler will also have fun shopping at Kol Kid, a hip and unique toy store which also sells fashionable children’s clothing.

Singing with Rainbow Songs Trinity Bellwoods is one of only many fun activities for Kids in this Toronto neighbourhood!
