Position: Music Teacher of Young Children

Rainbow Songs Inc. is currently seeking part-time Music Instructors.

Rainbow Songs offers exciting and interactive music programs for children from birth to 5 years old accompanied by caregivers. Over the last 20 years, Rainbow Songs has reached more than 50,000 families across Toronto and the world.

The position of Music Teacher involves leading groups of up to 15 preschool children and their parents/caregivers in singing and other musical activities. Classes are divided into baby, toddler and young child levels, and all staff teach all curriculum levels.

Instructors follow the Rainbow Songs program, but are encouraged to bring their own ideas and personality to the curriculum. Applicants should be outgoing, animated and comfortable working with children and their parents or caregivers. A strong clear singing voice and a high level of musical competency, particularly with the guitar, is expected of all applicants.

Remuneration:

On-the-job training pays $25 per hour for time in the classroom. Training is typically 8-15 weeks. Post-training, experienced teachers can make $40,000+ per year. The number of hours per week is flexible. Experienced teachers teach as many as 20 classes per week.

Rainbow Songs also hires out its teaching staff (as availability permits) to entertain at birthday parties. While this is completely optional, it allows for another source of income beyond Rainbow Songs weekly classes.

Rainbow Songs encourages its staff to pursue continuing education, and will offer opportunities for this development (both internal and external) throughout your tenure with us.

Once a probationary period is complete, Rainbow Songs staff qualify for an excellent benefits package (health insurance + retirement savings match).

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Excellent musical skills
  • Strong, clear singing voice
  • Good guitar skills
  • Outgoing and energetic personality
  • Excellent manner with children
  • Experience teaching music
  • Experience with infants and young children
  • Post-secondary musical training is an asset
  • ECE, Orff, or Kodaly training is an asset
