Mike Whitla wins OCFF Song Writing Award for Mike on a Bike
Songwriting award for "Mike on a Bike" in 2006 Songs from the Heart competition.
Mike Whitla has won an award for his composition "Mike on a Bike". The "Songs from the Heart" competition run by the OCFF (Ontario Council of Folk Festivals) grants awards for outstanding compositions in a variety of fields. "Mike on a Bike" won this year in the Childrens' category. The awards attract some of the best song writers in Canada and last year's winner was Juno award winner and producer of Raffi Ken Whiteley. Mike is very proud to be in such esteemed company.
It has been a great year for Mike Whitla and his second cd "Early Morning Knee-Slappin' Tunes". Earlier this year he won a Parent's Choice award and a NAPPA (National Parenting and Publishing Award). He was also named "Childrens' entertainer of the Year" by the Indie Music Awards.
