February the Worst Month?
February seems to me like a natural candidate for the worst month of the year Award. After waiting forever for winter to come this year now it seems like winter will go on forever. No holidays (this really bugs me we need a long weekend in February!!). . . Grey skies. . . Slush . . .
It seems like a blessing that it is the shortest month.
This shortness however makes this month tougher on many people like renters for instance.
Most people who rent where they live pay by the month which makes the per day price of rent in February more than any other month. In fact it makes it 8.2% more expensive per month than the average month.
And you guessed it most folks get paid weekly making their income during the same time no more.
This is a huge strain on the people who rent in my city, Toronto, where many people pay up to two thirds of their pay for housing.
It is also the month that in most places work is harder to get. Nothing is growing, you can’t work outside well, and it is harder to do practically everything.
I actually get a ton done in February. As a musician who likes to work in the studio it is the perfect time to hide from the world and get lost in the music. Nobody even thinks you are strange.
I’m just going to close my eyes and think about the summer.

Sounds like you might be coming down with seasonal affective disorder! Take care of yourself - and do not forget - March and April are nearly here! It is very, very cold and snowy and icy and windy here in Nebraska, too. Do not like it very much.
I’ll think of summer, as well! I also find myself thinking of our friends in South Africa and New Zealand and Australia. Somewhere in the world, it is nice! Just not up north!
Actually I don’t mind winter I kind of like it. It has been a deep freeze all month and I was mostly noticing how hard it is on other people especially those who live close to the edge or on the street.
I am ready to not be changing my footwear and clothing 10 times a day as I go in and out.

February Matters - looking to change the way folks feel about February, even those folks like Mr. Whitla.
February sucks, if there is a devil, it’s his month. Here in the US of A it’s a month of manufactored bullshit.
1. Stupid vapid awards shows
2. “President’s Day Weekend”: Instead of celebrating Washington’s 22 February and Lincoln 12 February, we’ve made it into a free for all weekend where our hard earned taxes pay for government workers to have a paid day off. There are cheesey commercials trumpeting mattress sales and car deals all for President’s day.
3. Weather this month is freaky. You can have blizzards and cold like this year or, in some years roller coaster weather. One week, cold and icey then unseasonably warm and humid.
4. In normal years, the flu epidemics peak during this month of misery.
5. Working in the airline industry, unpredictable February weather creates numerous cluster fucks causing cancelled and delayed flights.
6. February is usually the height of the ravages of an El Nino or La Nina.
7. People have a strong dose of “Hatoraide.” People are nastier, the realities of overspending for the holidays are coming to fruition. Football season is over and the only thing is basketball with players who make rediculous money and get hottie girls knocked up and they plop out bastard kids.
8. There seem to be a lot of tragedies during this month.
9. Leap Year
10. This damn month sounds like Fred Flinstone wearing a tutu.
11. I seem to have a high amount of Murphy’s Law during this month. It is the shortest month but seems the longest.
Shall I go on? I think y’all get it, February is a shitty month.
