Matthew MacLeod is a teacher, singer-songwriter, and guitarist. He began his musical training in guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Music and then at McGill University and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland. Matthew has a Bachelor of Education and is a certified elementary teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers.
Matthew's love for teaching began as a canoe instructor in northern Ontario where many evenings were spent leading singing sessions around the fire and under the stars. Before joining Rainbow Songs, he taught music at the elementary level in Melbourne, Australia for two years. He has experience teaching group singing, guitar and ukulele. He has performed around at cafes and folk festivals across Canada, Australia and the U.S.
Matthew composes music for both children and adults and performs regularly, singing, playing guitar, ukulele, banjo, harmonica and didgereedoo. He is currently working on his first full-length CD of original music. Travel and experiences teaching at home and abroad have led Matthew to sharing his love for music with young, aspiring musicians.
