Jonathan Ball discovered his calling as a musician and educator while singing Canadian folk ballads at a campfire and has never looked back. His love of music and teaching led Jonathan to take a Bachelor’s of Education at Trent University, but it is his love of travel that has taken him all over the world to sing with his prize acoustic guitar. Before completing the Rainbow Songs teacher training program, Jonathan worked as a special needs support worker and childcare supervisor in Victoria, BC.
Extensive travel and a laid-back attitude have carried Jonathan and his guitar into adventures in India, down rivers in Labrador, and through sandstorms in Mexico. Raised on Gordon Lightfoot and camping songs, Jonathan is an avid learner who likes simple music with rich meaning. These experiences blend into his music and allow Jonathan a freedom from genre specific musical preference.
Jonathan is currently employed both at Rainbow Songs and as an on-call elementary school teacher with the Toronto District School Board, where he loves to foster his student’s intrinsic musical creativity.
